Terms of business

Emma Telford, Textile Conservator, Unit 401, Berrows Business Centre, Bath Street, Hereford HR1 2HE, United Kingdom, hereafter called ‘the company’.

Estimates

The client is required to describe their use, storage and display requirements for the textile, so that appropriate proposals and an estimate can be prepared. Estimates are based on an hourly rate for the conservation work. A guide price for materials is noted. Transport and any other costs not stated therein are not included but will be charged accordingly. An estimate does not constitute a firm quotation. Written acceptance of the estimate and terms of business is required from the owner before work can proceed.
Insurance

Textiles are left at the clients own risk, and clients are advised to notify their insurers and to extend their own cover for the object while it is in transit and in the care of the company.

Fees

Conservation £30 per hour. Materials charged at cost price, a guide is noted on the estimate . In situ work £210 per day. Travel second class rail fares and all transfers or at the company’s option 40p per mile. All fees are subject to annual revision.

Payment

On approval of the proposed conservation work a deposit of one third of the total cost of treatment is payable in advance. For objects such as tapestries, where treatment may take several months, payment by instalments may be made by arrangement. Final payment is due on completion of the work.
